The only art of true worth is that made at in the present, and the closer to the present the more value it has. The complexity of an artist's vision can only be granted fullness by unlimited freedom of expression, and earlier forms had many limitations. Even now the artist labors under constraints (few though they are in comparison to previous eras) which prevent perfect expression.
